Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attended the 15th BRICS summit that was held in South Africa. At the end of the summit PM Narendra Modi gifted every leader including South African President Cyril Ramaphose, first lady of South Africa Tshepo Motsepe, and Brazilan President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
PM Narendra Modi gifted Ramaphosa a 500-year-old Persian exclusive found on Bidar, a fine work of Bidri work Pair of Surahi. The surahs are inlaid with pure Silver wire with pretty patterns around the body.
PM Modi also gifted to the first lady of South Africa Tshepo Motsepe, a Naga Swal, which took centuries of work to create the textile art by the Naga Tribe. The design of the Naga Shawl is inspired by the Naga tribe’s myths, legends, and beliefs with specific meanings.
On the other hand, PM Narendra Modi gifted a Gond Painting to Brazilian President Lula da Silva, which is one of the art from the tribe of Madhya Pradesh. The word ‘Gond’ comes from the Dravidian expression ‘Kond’ which means ‘green mountain’.The painting is made of natural colors and materials like charcoal, colored soil, plant sap, leaves, cow dung, stone powder, etc.
