This decision was followed after more than a ten-day blackout took place, regarding ABC and ESPN stations. The result of such a blackout was the customers getting upset and threatening to give up on Disney channels cable bundle as a whole.
After which both cable Charter Communications and Walt Disney Co. were able to reach a truce. This restored the channels of Disney to the TV services.
CHTR (Charter) had originally argued that Disnay was charging a lot of money for broadcasting of their channels. They also claimed that they were moving all of their top-tier quality content to their streaming services.
The companies have now announced a novel agreement which requires Charter to pay a higher sum to Disney for distributing their content (including Hulu, ESPN and Disney Plus).
The CEO of Charter had said earlier that they were more than ready to move on. This move could have caused a massive disruption in the landscape of entertainment.
