He created a kit made of electronic parts which was primarily to improve the transmission of Morse Code through the medium of radio. 

Advancement

Shortly after, he began selling these kits to the other operators of Ham Radio. This made his small company branch off into manufacturing other forms of electronic components as well. It enabled his company to grow very quickly. 

Since then, Digikey kept growing and by the year 2018, they made a yearly revenue of $2.3Bn and had more than three thousand employees.

On September 29th of the year 2021, they reached another milestone. Digikey officially announced a partnership with the corporation QuickLogic – which is a company that operates on a fabless semiconductor. Now, Digikey locations are 10 in total, but the headquarters are in Thief River Falls.
